The
Reformed Churches today
We continue to believe what the Reformers rediscovered in
the Bible, and build on that. We do this because we believe
they obeyed the Bible. The churches of the Reformation
produced many confessions: statements that expressed what
the Bible teaches. They are summaries of the Biblical
teaching on many subjects (like how Jesus became man, his
resurrection, the sacraments, prayer, and so on). You can
read them by going to the website of our federation, the
American and Canadian Reformed churches. Please look under
the headings 'The Ecumenical Creeds' and 'The Three Forms
of Unity').
In our modern society we are constantly exposed to new
ideas and changing circumstances. Some churches adopt those
ideas for several reasons. Jesus wants his church to be
faithful to him and follow his will. "If you love me, you
will obey my commands" (John15:1-17 and 1John5:1-5).
There is much more to say. If you'd like to know more about
what the Bible teaches and to grow closer to Jesus Christ,
send us an email with your questions and come visit our
worship services. We gladly join the Reformed tradition and
keep it alive because we believe it does justice to the
authority of the Bible, defends and applies the glorious
biblical doctrines and is committed to Christ.
